Other reviewers have given a synopsis of the plot so I will skip that. I loved the hero from the beginning. He was an honorable, well-intentioned man who had suffered and overcome much in his life. His love and care for the heroine was very apparent. I had a hard time connecting with the heroine who was grieving her former fiancee. She seemed very self-absorbed and uncaring of how her behavior affected her family who loved her. This could have been a beautiful and romantic love story. Unfortunately, the author chose the easiest and most obvious route to cause problems for the couple. How else did the heroine expect her husband to react? Twice! Was there some overreacting on his part? Maybe. But I don't blame him. I was certainly not convinced that the heroine was truly in love with her husband. By the end of the book, I was sorry to have read it. I am giving it 3 stars because of the hero.

very good read but kind of predicable and the story seem many other love stories but the same a nice book
I guess they left out the scene where the hero has a traumatic injury which alters his personality to where he becomes an obsessive, suspicious, destructive creep.
I loved this book. Adam was perfect; patient, loving, sexy. Mallory comes to love Adam, and it's satisfying because they have a history and they just seem really right for each other. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 85% of this story. Then there's the fairly predictable plot twist -- but it's a romance story, so that wasn't an issue. Where the story gets distasteful is in Adam's response to the inevitable plot development. He goes toxic. It's a complete personality change which is so off-putting that I really didn't care if the relationship succeeded after that. I don't know Mallory could ever reasonably trust Adam again. His actions seem to inconsistent with the character he's established. I ended up a little angry because it was such a beautiful love story up until then. Ms. Warren has done a lot better.
Possible spoiler ! I enjoyed this book but not thrilled hence the 3 stars. What I did not like was her extreme mood swings she was just too depressed which quite did not connect when we were told she hardly spent time with fiancé and bursting into tears or laughter for no apparent reason most of the time was quite unbelievable! He was quite sweet most of the time until he turned super obsessive and controlling which left you quite creeped out of what the future may hold! Hated the end bit where she goes into detail about kissing another guy to prove she love him cringe worthy to even say to him 'and he is an excellent kisser' kind of spoilt it for me plus his sudden obsessive nature disappeared there when he should have been most angry because she did it willingly this time! yes, there was another time ! Final dislike there is absolutely no plot no story line just I have decided i will get you out if your depression in my obsessive controlling manner and you can act up as spoilt as you like with everyone indulging your bipolar mood swings! For some reason I continued to read though it was predictable and i did put it down many times, i guess there is something endearing about handsome stunning Earl begging but you never felt he was one or beg at that he seemed too deep in his own jealousy and self pity as was she perfect match then !Bipolar depressive meets obsessive!with no intensity that is!!!!
LOVED IT!!
I loved this book. It was hard to put down! The intimate scenes were so steamy. And there was so much love between the two. I felt horrible for Michael, of course-maybe he'll get his own story-but Mallory belonged with Adam.
I loved this book out of the series. Warren's characters come alive, especially with the foreshadowing done to introduce the characters in preview books in the series. I strongly advise to read the books in order. That way you have some knowledge of our hero and heroine and look forward to their story. .
This is one of the first books I bought on my and it's been in my favourites file for a long time. I decided to reread it and although I enjoyed it again, it isn't a five star read in truth. The h is heartbroken at the start of the story because her fiance was killed at war and she's been in mourning for over a year. She's struggling to move on with her life. When she was younger she had a crush on the H but he rejected her advances and so she settled for friendship with him. The H was friends with the h's brothers and was 10 years older than the h. He knew she was forbidden fruit when they were younger but now he wants to change things between them because he's always loved her. They get caught in a compromising position by her family, in what was largely a fairly innocent situation. The h agrees to marry the H but things do not always run smoothly. There is a "big misunderstanding" moment quite late on in the book and I wasn't particularly happy with the way things were resolved.
